Nagorno-Karabagh: The world’s forgotten genocide? - ACT NOW!!!

Dear Visitor, One of the most heinous crimes against the Azerbaijyni people was the brutalannihilation of hundreds of blameless inhabitants of the town of Khojaly, in the Nagorny Karabakh region of the Azerbaijani Republic, which was taken by Armenian troops on the night of 25/26 February 1992.

As a member of Azerbaijan-American community, I am writing to remind you of the reprehensible crime that was perpetrated against innocent Azerbaijani civilians on February 26, 1992 by Armenian forces.

On the night of February 26 -27, 1992 the civilian population of the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly witnessed and suffered genocide at the hands of Armenian soldiers. Hundreds of women, children and old men were brutally killed by Armenian forces. Hundreds more were tortured, raped and burned.

Many prominent media outlets, including The New York Times and The Financial Times, reported that “bodies had multiple signs of torture; children were found without ears or nails. And some people were scalped alive.” In March 1992, The Washington Times ran headlines reporting that an “Armenian raid leaves Azeris dead or fleeing” and that about 1000 people were massacred by the Armenian army. Azerbaijani television news reports documented the genocide with devastating images that showed truckload of corpses being removed from the Khojaly area.

These incomprehensible atrocities did not happen in the dark ages or in Nazi concentration camps. These atrocities did not happen even 90 years ago. These atrocities did happen at the end of the 20th century, at a time when the world community was able to witness the undeniable evidence of documented Armenian aggression.

Today, Armenian lobbies desperately and falsely try to convince the members of the U.S. Congress of the veracity of questionable claims of genocide by Turkey are true, but these same lobbyists never mention the undeniable and fully documented facts surrounding unimaginable atrocities committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis just a short 15 years ago.

The facts speak for themselves. Today Armenia illegally occupies close to 20% of Azerbaijan. Because of Armenian aggression, close to 1 million Azerbaijanis live as refugees in their own country. U.N. Security Council with the US representation issued FOUR resolutions, and resolutions by The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have ordered Armenia to withdraw from Azerbaijan’s lands, AND ARMENIA CONTINUES TO REFUSE TO DO SO.

We, send out an appeal to the members of US Congress “DO NOT believe the lies of the Armenian government denying any wrongdoing in Khojaly and lying to cover the crimes they’ve committed against humanity. 

As we mark the 15th anniversary of the Khojaly massacres, I and 400,000 Azerbaijani-Americans across the United States implore you to properly recognize and commemorate this tragedy, and to pressure the Armenian government to admit its responsibility for the massacre and to withdraw Armenian troops from the illegally occupied regions of Azerbaijan.
